Just thought I’d finally get my wishlists linked up to my blog. Cant get decent access from work to change the template so I’m dumping them in teh category list on the right hand side for now :)

The names the names the name

Over the last few months myself and Vonnie have had ‘disagreements’ over a name for the baby. I cant stand almost anything she comes up with and likewise with anything I come up with. The funny thing is we had a name sorted for if it was going to be a girl.

The closest we came to a boys name just didnt seem to fit right. We had a (very) short list and none of them rolled off the tongue right or they just threw mental images into my head that made me really not want to name any child of mine with any of the names.

Then Vonnie mentioned a name that she liked. I liked it as well but it didnt hit me straight away but I’m growing to really like it now.

I’d always said to myself that I wanted to hold the baby in my arms before finding a name that fits them but I think we may have found a winner…

Merry christmas to one and all

If you ever have children or ever look after children on christmas eve night…do not under any circumstances let them sleep in your bed.

For an xmas treat Finn was allowed to sleep with us now that we’ve got the mattress for the bed. I was knackered after the xmas eve assault course but I think I managed 30 mins sleep before Finns windmilling in bed and constant moans to get a drink (he’s not allowed anything after a certain time as he sleeps that soundly he sometimes has trouble getting up and awake enough in time to make it to the toilet when he’s really bursting…depends how deep a sleep he’s waking up from…and he will kill me for this when he’s older) before Vonnie snapped at 4.30 and gave him a sip of her juice. He still kept windmilling though so I was still awake at 5.30am.

I decided enough was enough and went through to the couch after moving him to my side of the bed to let Vonnie get a bit of sleep. I stuck on my Long Way Round DVD in an attempt to numb my brain enough with the scenery that I would fall asleep. It didnt work and at 5.45am the neighbours downstairs kids woke up and started playing with a musical instrument they’d been given and then at 6.30 put on thier new cd/turned on their new hifi. Luckily a cluster headache had hit me before 6am so I had something to take my mind off the noise…

We had trouble waking up Finn after 8am as he was ‘tired’ but as he was ‘a good boy Santa would have came so the presents would be there’ when he eventually decided to wake up. You cant fault the kids logic…

Lots of :(‘s becuase there was no Thunderbirds stuff (which we didnt really know he wanted as he’d only told his dad) and lot’s of :)‘s when he found out how much Lego he got.

I made Xmas dinner and for someone thats never cooked a whole chicken before or used a steamer I was impressed with how it came out. I wish my cooker had one of those warming sections on it though as the dinner suffered from the usual ‘too much food and only a small cooker’ speedy cooling down once it hit the plate. Loads of leftovers though so I think a homemade curry is on the cards one night this week.

Most impressed with my presents this year although the scarf Vonnie made me and the greenday DVD Scott gave me are fighting a losing battle with my new dressing gown for the spot of favourite present. I’ll see how they get on once I actually get dressed though as I get the feeling they might get back into the game then ;)

Someone has tried the flat door before but it was during the day.

Last night at approx 4.30am Vonnie heard someone try the door handle and wolk me up. So I went investigating.

Noone was in the flat despite Vonnie thinking she heard someone actually in the flat but the keys were still in the locked door. I did hear someone drunkenly stumbling about in the close so im assuming it was some xmas reveller that forgot where he stayed. Has to be said though that I didnt really get back to sleep after that though.

My mum came up and dropped our presents off and we headed down to Vonnie’s Nana and Mothers for the day to see them rather than on xmas day itself. A ‘home bt 3.30pm’ turned into us getting home about 8 and picking up a pizza on the way. I’d feel asleep in the car on the way from Vonnie’s Nana’s to her mum’s so i was feeling slightly perkier that everyone else so I’ve stayed up to finished the present wrapping. Finn’s got loads of stuff but seeing as I actually know whats in it it still doenst feel like that much.

The Goodies

Christmas is coming
Isnt it a laugh
We havent any money
So lets all go daft

So yeah…christmas present shopping is slowly coming together and hopefully I’ll have 95% of it done by tonight. My grandpa is in the hospital just now after getting his knee replaced so I need to go up and see him tonight so late shopping isnt on teh cards thankfully :)

The christmas tree is up and looking damn nice if you ask me. Managed to get it up after a couple of hours with Finn’s help so at least a part of the flat looks christmas-ey. Finn’s got this new found fascination with Lego and judging on what I know he’s getting already I dont know who’s more excited about it ;)

Sunday seen myself and Mark head out into the wilds for a day of airsofting. It would have been better with more of us but as it was only half the team really gave a shit about winning so we got our arses felt in almost every game. We finished a little early so myself and Mark wandered down the path to get Vonnie at the gate and by this time it was pitch black. Mark found out that I really dont like the dark and with a ruined church at the gate Mark started talking about The Blair Witch. I will kill him one of these days…I promise!

Its payroll week at work so i’ve been rushed off my feet. If its not payroll action its testing the new travel time system that our IT dept have messed up. And guess what ive done all day? I’ve been in meetings or put up christmas decorations. Just as well I’m off tomorrow or i’d have to deal with all the shit thats going to hit tomorrow because nothing got done today ;)

Things are going well but I’m knackered. So much so that when Vonnie and Finn got home last night I was asleep on the couch :S

Anyway…cant chat…I’ve got glittery things to hang from the roof :(

Stupid quiz 1

1)Was 2005 a good year for you?
Both good and bad. The good outweighs the bad though.

2) What was your favorite moment of the year?
Hearing my soon to be son’s heartbeat after rushing across glasgow for an emergency scan because the doc couldnt find it.

3) What was your least favorite moment of the year?
I’d have said the doc not finding the baby’s heartbeat but that lead to much happiness afterwards. It’s a toss up between seeing Vonnie crack up through not knowing what was happening with the flat and being unable to do anything about it and Susie telling me there was no friendship left. Neither were very good.

4) Where were you when 2005 began?
In a drunken heap on Mark and Clare’s floor txting Vonnie.

5) Who were you with?
Most folk…it was a party and M&C’s :p

6) Where will you be when 2005 ends?
Most likely it will be a quite one in the flat.

7) Who will you be with when 2005 ends?
Vonnie and Finn

8) Did you keep your new years resolution of 2005?
I dont make resolutions..i just make promises. I promised to sort my life out and I did. Never imagined it would turn out like it did but I’m not complaining :)

9) Do you have a new years resolution for 2006?

10) Did you fall in love in 2005?
Quite simply, yes.

11) If yes, with who?

12) If yes, do they know?

13) Are you still in love with them?

14) Do regret it?

15) Did you breakup with anyone in 2005?
Yes and No. I’d broke up with Susie way before the end of last year but I decided to stop trying to get back with her on New Years day.

16) Did you make any new friends in 2005?
A lot more than I thought I ever would.

17) Who are your favorite new friends?
Shug and Jen though I dont get to see them enough

18) What was your favorite month of 2005?
June…I had a great summer!

19) Did you travel outside of the UK in 2005?
Only in my head.

20) How many different states did you travel to in 2005?
2…awake and unconcious

21) Did you lose anybody close to you in 2005?

Me..in a war zone? You have to be kidding?

Somethings came up in work that I’m really thinking of going for. Basically I’m thinking of putting myself forward for the Crisis Response Staff Pool.

This would entail me having to drop stuff at a moments notice to go help out with emergancies be it overseas or in London. I’m not an aid worker/adviser/disaster specialist so im limited with what I can do but this is right up my alley as it includes admin staff to help run the offices or to staff emergancy teams. Prime examples of this were our Iraq desk needed setup immediately once the war finished but the way recruitment works it takes up to 9 months to get people into place but with this staff pool it could be up and running within days with the full time staff being recruited over the following months. When the tsunami hit last year everyone was on holiday…Boxing Day I think it was. With this pool we’d have the ability to staff teh London desks on teh day and get extra admin staff out to the effected areas to run the offices whilst the locals deal with their homes/families/etc.

It’s an ideal thing for me as not only do I get to help out in my own way but it looks great on my annual report for when I go for promotion. The only thing is I dont know if my skill set is what they are looking for and I have no time to get any training organised before the sifting of applicants is done.

Something I need to really think about over the coming week or so.
