“The next time they give you all that civic bullshit about voting, keep in mind that Hitler was elected in a full, free democratic election”

Hmm…Today was the day to vote and considering I’ve not really seen a TV in ages and the last time I read a newspaper properly was about 3 weeks ago I’m not as up to speed about the parties plans as Iusually like to be.

In saying this there were two things I knew werent going to happen. Me voting Tory or me voting Labour. I’ve never agreed with the Tories line on most things so that was a no brainer especially as I havent seen anything from them to change my mind. Labour was a bit harder to work round. I’ve always been a labour supporter to a certain degree. My mum voted labour and her dad was a member etc. I can’t see any links with the pabour party now and the Labour party back then though…other than the name of course.

This basically left the ‘diddy teams’

Of these the stand out candidate was the guy that wants to legalise drugs and give binmen free access to prostitutes. The guys hearts in the right place I suppose.

Anyway when it came down to it I really only had 3 choices…Scottish Lib Dems, SNP or spoil my ballot. I like a lot of the ideas the Lib Dems come up with…they seem workable in comparison to everyone elses but they also have some issues that I’m not to keen on. SNP was very similar…a few things I liked but not really enough to make me vote for them.

So a spoiled ballot it was…Just wish there was a “none of the above” box on the ballot to make it easier :)

NOTA campaigns ahoy – that could be exceptionally interesting, although the sheer costs involved in running a by-election would probably negate that straight away :(

I pine for my days of student politics

I didn’t vote in the end. I wasn’t really following the whole election thing (Heat magazine doesn’t do updates on it) so felt there was no point in voting just for votings sake. Mibbe if i had been following it all i could’ve made an educated decision on who to vote for but there’s no point in one party getting my vote just because i don’t want to vote for another party. That’s my two cents!
