We went to see the consultant today and Vonnie had mentioned that the scanner person at the private scan had said the baby was a little wee for this stage and that there was a lot of amniotic fluid. This coupled with the consultant being able to easily move the baby about meant that all talk of what was going to happen with the birth went out the window and a scan was booked at Hairmyres at the earliest timeslot to double check everything.

Either the baby isn’t growing as it should which will probably mean we get to meet a hell of alot sooner than we expected. This is good in one sense wbut we are way off being ready for Vonnie giving birth with regards to the house. We’ve got a cot to buy and a room to decorate beforehand plus the rest of th ehouse that needs done in order to allow us to do that. The other option is thatthe baby is fine and we’ll see them when we see them. The only problem with this is that its delaying us planning out whats going to happen for the birth and making us oworry our little socks off until the scan next week. I don’t think its as serious as Vonnie does though as if they really were that worried we’d have had the scan done today. So fingers crosed folks.

Vonnie is about 2 months away from giving birth to our second child, her third, and I’ve barely posted anything about it on here.

Its not through lack of intent but more a lack of energy and time I think. That and I always like to start this kind of thing off with a picture and as I only managed to get our scanner working properly this morning I’ve been struggling in that regard all this time.

Vonnie describes this pregnancy as a ‘happy accident’ but thats not really the case. We sort of knew what we were doing although we never thought for a second it would actually work out like this. Anyway both mother and bump were doing fine at the beginning which is polar opposites to how things with Nairn went. The only problem was that this time Vonnie’s pelvis decided to give up the ghost about half way through rather than the last 2 weeks of the pregancy. Between crutches, painkillers and helpful/unhelpful miidwives and doctors we’ve got this far though. My work thankfully gave me time off (hopefully with some of it as compassionate leave) as there was just no way Vonnie could keep going on the way she was without some rest and help.

I’ve spent the last week at her command and I think its done her the world of good. Shes managed to rest up and when she has had to do things like help out friends in need with urgent childcare we’ve worked out how much she can and can’t take before its to much for her. A days full rest before and after any activity should be enough to get her through it although the day to day work of looking after Nairn and picking Finn up from school is still looking as though it may be to much for her to continiously do it. We’ll need to see how that one pans out though I think.

Anyway on to the picture…

Vonnie was cracking up not knowing the sex of the baby so we arranged (that should read ‘Vonnie arranged’) for her to go for a 15 minute sexing scan at the place we had the 4D scan for Nairn done. A lot cheaper and it got the job done. Anyway I had to stay with Nairn in the car as it was parked in a dodgy place but as far as Vonnie was aware I didnt want to know the sex. I’d changed my mind on the drive into town but didnt get the chance to go to teh scan. Anyway, becuase of teh size of the baby and the fact I wasnt there the scanning person flipped it onto the 3D scan as shown above rather than just the normal ultrasound scan to get a decent pic to show me.
